I’m getting reacquainted with lifting heavier—and letting my legs feel it.
When running was the priority, I held back on lower-body lifts. Now I’m getting a feel for pushing closer to failure while finding a rhythm with four lifts, two runs, and enough recovery to do it again next week.
I felt strong. More soreness than last week, but sleep was good. Running landed at 19 km, a little above my planned 15 km, but it felt good. With the extra running volume, I skipped the optional accessory work to leave room for recovery.
Calories were a little above target too, mostly thanks to Friday and Saturday. We celebrated Thanksgiving early this weekend, complete with turkey, mashed potatoes, and pumpkin pie. I enjoyed all of it and weighed everything on my plate to keep an accurate picture of my intake.
Average weight dropped about a pound. With my period week behind me, I want another week of weigh-ins—and a better look at my weekend eating patterns—before deciding whether calories need to increase.
So for now, I’m changing exactly nothing.
Some of my favourite moments this week were watching the kids at run club, having them play in the gym, and running with Derk. I want my kids to see that movement can be fun, getting stronger takes effort, and making time for yourself belongs in family life too.
This week starts a new six-week block with @functionalbodybuilding
New movements, same commitment. Let’s see what I can lift.
