WEEK 3/15

4/4 lifting days

2/2 runs · 17 km total

Average steps: 9,636/day

Average weight: 135.6 lbs

Average calories: 2,597/day

Target: 2,485 cals · 155P · 275C · 85F

I lifted heavier this week, and my runs are feeling stronger with consistent strength training. Energy was steady, soreness was low, and I got all my sessions in around three work shifts. Sleep had a few interruptions, but overall I felt good.

Friday and Saturday continue to be my higher-calorie days. Wine alongside treats adds up, so I want to be more intentional about choosing one or the other while still leaving room for things I enjoy.

The bigger mental challenge this week? Seeing my average weight go up.

I want to build muscle, but that doesn’t mean I’ve completely unlearned the instinct to see a higher number as something I need to fix.

Muscle has weight. If I want more of it, I need to make room for the scale to rise—and resist making decisions out of fear when it does. Cutting calories or adding extra cardio just to bring that number down could work against the goal I’m putting so much effort into.

That doesn’t mean every pound gained is muscle, or that I stop paying attention to the trend. It means looking at the bigger picture before reacting: how I’m lifting, how I’m recovering, and what changes over several weeks.

For next week, my macros are staying the same. I’m also adding a third, shorter conditioning session because I feel better mentally with a little more conditioning in my week. The purpose is to support how I feel, not to compensate for what I ate or chase a lower weigh-in.

This week, I’m lifting heavier and feeling stronger. I want those wins to carry more weight in my decisions than my discomfort with the scale.
