Well hello gorgeous! How was your weekend?
Mine was fabulous. Let me tell you about it…
Saturday morning, the kids and I received an invitation to go boating for the day. I took one look at the atrocious mess in my kitchen and living room and I said to my little guy, “Emmett, go pee and get your hat, we’re going bye-bye.” I packed a cooler, stopped at Walmart for an extra life jacket and away we went. It was an absolute beaut of a day…sun was shining, it was hot and the lake was lovely! We did some tubing, some wakeboarding, and some sunshine catchin’. I haven’t wakeboarded in years, but I thought what the hell, this might not be pretty, but why not try? I got up and was that ever fun!! The lesson: say YES, ya little badass, and try something you’re unsure of. The kids got loads of fresh air and sunshine on Saturday and were utterly exhausted on Saturday night. I got a babysitter in the evening and ran a few errands and had dinner and great conversation with a lovely friend. Was such a good day…so many awesome things packed into one day.
Sunday, we started the morning off with pancakes, bacon and some reggae music. I packed up the kids for yet another adventure to the Down to Earth Farms Petting Zoo in Sexsmith. This place is INCREDIBLE. Extremely well organized, so cute, and so fun for the kids. You start out getting a briefing from Shane the owner about what and how to feed and treat the animals. He gives each family a cup of lettuce and carrots and away ya go…there’s rabbits, llamas, donkeys (Ruby’s fav), alpacas, goats, pigs, horses, ponies, ducks….and baby goats…O.M.G!!! Who doesn’t love a stinky, little, jumping, baby goat?! Sooooooooooo cute.
There’s a fire pit and lunch area to bring your own hot dogs to roast and eat lunch. They also offer complementary juice boxes, water and freezies. The farm is run on a donation basis. They also do birthday parties! I linked their facebook page above, so if you’re in the area…check this place out. I can’t say enough good things about it and I will definitely be taking the kids back this summer sometime.

And a few words about meal prep this week…
I tried a new recipe from PaleOMG this week. I made Juli’s Bacon Cheeseburger Meatloaf. The only thing I did differently to her recipe was use ground turkey rather than ground pork and I didn’t do the caramelized onions because of timing but this turned out fantastic…
Some other foods I prepped for the week were…
- Balsamic & Herb Marinated Chicken Breasts (Balsamic Vinegar, Basil, Rosemary, Salt & Pepper)
- Tuscan Herb Roasted Smashed Potatoes (Tuscan Herb Olive Oil, Salt & Pepper)
- Roasted Asparagus
- Steamed Broccoli
- Watermelon, Strawberries, & Blueberries
- Gluten Free Pancakes (President’s Choice Brand GF Pancake Mix)
- Protein Shakes (Dry Mix – protein powder, chia seeds, dried peanut butter)
I hope you all had a fantastic weekend and are pumped for a great week ahead! Message me if you have any questions or comments!! Talk to you sooooooooon…..
