Happy 6th Birthday Ruby

𝕄π•ͺ ℝ𝕦𝕓π•ͺ,

Today you are 6.

When I picture you in my mind, you are elbows and knees, long lanky limbs, windblown, wild blonde hair, dirty faced with beautiful bright eyes.

You captivate me with your aliveness.

You are sharp, quick-witted and brave.

It’s been within this last year that I’ve noticed a charming ascendency begin to surface in you.
You ask intelligent questions.
You look people in the eye and speak directly.
You aren’t afraid to tell someone how you think things should be (we’ll have to make sure to discuss what it means to develop “tact”). πŸ˜‚

Your brother made a comment the other day saying, “Mom, you can tell Ruby is changing.”
I asked, “In what way?”
He replied, “Well, the other day when she was arguing with Derk, she didn’t just get mad and go to her room, she was telling him what she believed.”
I laughed and said, “You’re right.”

What I most admire in you at this age is your generous spirit, your unapologetic offering of love and affection for others and the clarity you exhibit in articulating exactly how you feel, especially when the feelings are hard, or your heart is hurting.
I’m so proud of you for this.

You are beautiful, my love.

Happy Birthday β™₯️

xo,

Mom
