Dr. Jolene Brighten & β€œBeyond the Pill”

LADIES!!! πŸ‹πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸ’†πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸ€±πŸ»πŸ§—πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸŠπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸ’ƒπŸ€°πŸ»πŸ™‹πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

**This is a podcast worth your time!!**

There is such interesting, thought provoking, content in this episode regarding women’s health particularly hormone based contraceptives and their systemic effects. πŸ’Š

.

What I love about @drjolenebrighten is that she is not anti-pharma but rather she states that there is a time and a place for pharmaceuticals but there’s always a place for symptom reduction and management through diet and lifestyle. πŸ“πŸ₯¦πŸ§˜πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

.

Scientific research is beginning to examine the effect that hormone contraceptives might have systematically across a lifespan. New studies are finding corresponding evidence between hormone contraceptive use and autoimmune disease, diabetes, cognitive and neurological disorders. This is a BIG DEAL!!! ‼️‼️‼️

.

Think about how many hormone shifts a woman goes through from puberty to menopause and then compound this lifetime of innate biomechanics (fertility, pregnancies, motherhood, lactation) with our distinct life experience, corresponding stressors, potential comorbidities, diet, exercise, etc.

ALL WHICH HAVE AN INTRINSIC EFFECT ON OUR HORMONES!!

.

It starts with awareness, becoming intuitively aware of our bodies and how they feel based on how we fuel them, move them, rest them and medicate them. Weight gain, decreased libido, anxiety, depression…symptoms that are a normal part of being a woman?! No.

.

How many of us have said this statement out loud?

β€œI’m just so bitchy this week, I’m PMS’ing.” 😀🀯😑🀬

.

These symptoms are real, they don’t need to be endured and can most definitely be reduced with proper methodology.

.

Next, educating ourselves. The foods we eat, the way we move our bodies, the quality of sleep we get and the stressors we shoulder day to day result in biochemical changes and resultant hormone fluctuations. Knowing that this is the case allows us to find solutions to support our body and hormone balance.

.

This interview was fascinating. Thanks @mindpumpmedia for another compelling episode.

.

I just ordered @drjolenebrighten book β€œBeyond the Pill” and can’t wait to read and learn more!!
